Travis Eliot - Yoga is Gut Healing

I spent the first covid summer outdoors with Travis Eliot. I found his free YouTube channel. Travis is a world-renown yoga instructor, mediation teacher, and author. I selected a new power or yin yoga exercise and meditation. I completed Travis’s 7-Day Digital Power Yoga Retreat twice. Each day consists of a two-hour video with yoga followed by a mediation.

 

Attending classes in person is best, especially yoga classes. The instructors provide guidance, support, and corrections. I encourage everyone to find an exercise that you enjoy and a supporting community.

My Yoga Notes

I practice yoga several times a week. A big change for me. I’m not athletic and most of my life I did not exercise. I’m grateful to have found hot yoga in 2015. Yoga is essential to my health. Due to many classes and wonderful instructors, I was able to transition to yoga at home when Covid arrived.


On Black Out Tuesday, I learned my dad died. At that moment, I was practicing Eye of the Storm, day six from his retreat. Over the next few weeks, I listened to many of Travis’s meditations and felt his wisdom.


Yoga yokes my mind into calming, compassionate, loving thoughts. Calming the mind, calms the body, and helps healing. My yoga practice led me to find my dharma, a way to serve. I created Gut Healing with Diane to help others find vitality and equanimity.
